। पाकिस्तान की स्थिति लगातार खराब होती जा रही है। आर्थिक तंगी झेल रहे पाकिस्तान से अब आईएमएफ ने भी मुंह फेर लिया है। हालात यह है की लोगों को खाने का सामान के लिए भी परेशान होना पड़ रहा है। मीडिया रिपोर्ट की माने तो पाकिस्तान को आईएमएफ ने लोन देने से इनकार कर दिया है।

खबरों की माने तो पाकिस्तान पर डिफॉल्ट होने का खतरा बढ़ता जा रहा है। पाकिस्तान के वित्त मंत्री इशाक डार ने फिर से आश्वासन दिया है कि पाकिस्तान डिफॉल्ट नहीं होगा। वहीं पाकिस्तान में चल रही राजनीतिक और आर्थिक अस्थिरता से अब सऊदी अरब और यूएई की भी मुश्किले बढ़ती दिख रही है। इन दोनों ही देशों ने पाकिस्तान को अरबों डॉलर का लोन दिया है।

मीडिया रिपोर्ट के अनुसार इन दोनों ही देशों ने अभी मिलकर 3 अरब डॉलर देने का पाकिस्तान और आईएमएफ से वादा किया है। लेकिन पाकिस्तान में राजनीतिक अफरातफरी के बीच आर्थिक संकट अपने चरम पर पहुंचता दिख रहा है।

। ओडिशा के बालासोर में तीन ट्रेनों की भीड़ंत में लगभग 288 लोगों की मौत और 1000 से अधिक लोगों के घायल होने के बाद एक बार फिर से उसी ट्रेक पर ट्रेन शुरू हो चुकी है। हादसे के लगभग 51 घंटे बाद ट्रैक पर फिर से ट्रेन रवाना हुई। इस मौके पर रेल मंत्री अश्विनी वैष्णव ने भावपूर्ण तरीके से हाथ जोड़कर ट्रेन को विदा किया।

जानकारी के अनुसार घटनास्थल पर देर रात 11 बजे तक खुद रेल मंत्री अश्विनी वैष्णव मौजूद रहे। उन्होंने कहा कि पूरी टीम ने तत्परता से काम करके दोनों पटरियों को रीस्टोर कर दिया है और एक बार फिर से उसी ट्रेक पर मालगाड़ी को रवाना किया गया है। रेल मंत्री कहा कि हमें हादसे का दुख है। लेकिन इस मामले की गहराई तक जांच की जाएगी। जो भी दोषी पाया जाएगा, उसे सख्त से सख्त सजा दी जाएगी।

इस हादसे के बाद रेल मंत्री ने हादसे की जांच सीबीआई से कराने की सिफारिश की है। लेकिन साथ ही रेलवे सुरक्षा आयोग की जांच भी जारी रहेगी। रेल मंत्रालय के सूत्रों ने कहा कि सभी एंगल से जांच की जरूरत है।

उन्होंने आगे बोलते हुए कहा की हम महात्मा गांधी की विचारधार को लेकर आगे बढ़ रहे हैं। गांधी जी ने अंग्रेजों से लड़ाई की, जो उस समय अमेरिका से भी बड़ी ताकत थे। आप लोग गांधी, आंबेडकर, पटेल, नेहरू के कदमों पर चल रहे हैं। उन्होंने कहा की पीएम मोदी, बीजेपी और आरएसएस के साथ एक ही मुश्किल है और वो ये की वो हमेशा भूतकाल की बातें करते हैं।

हमेशा किसी दूसरे पर आरोप लगाने की सोचते हैं। बीजेपी और आरएसएस के पास भविष्य देखने की क्षमता नहीं है। उनसे कुछ भी पूछो वो पीछे की ओर देखते हैं। उन्होंने कहा की भाजपा से आप ओडिशा रेल हादसे पर सवाल पूछो तो कहेंगे कांग्रेस ने 50 साल पहले ऐसा काम किया था, इसलिए यह हादसा हुआ।

Weather update: राजस्थान में अब बढ़ेगी गर्मी, 6 जून के बाद बढ़ेगा कई शहरों का तापमान

। राजस्थान सहित देशभर में मौसम लगातार अपना खेल दिखा रहा है। यहां भर गर्मी के मौसम में लगातार बारिश और आंधी का दौर जारी है। राजस्थान में पिछले एक सप्ताह से लगातार बारिश, अंधड़ और ओले गिर रहे है। वहीं बात दिल्ली की कर ले तो दिल्ली के कई हिस्सों में बारिश ने तापमान में राहत दी है।

इधर मौसम विभाग की माने तो राजस्थान, हरियाणा और यूपी के कुछ इलाकों में भी बारिश हो सकती है। इधर राजस्थान में मौसम विभाग ने अगले 3 दिन के लिए आंधी-बारिश का अलर्ट जारी किया है। इस दौरान उमस बढ़ेगी, कई शहरों में पारा 2 से 4 डिग्री तक बढ़ सकता है।

वहीं राजस्थान में 6 जून के बाद कई शहरों में दिन का तापमान 40 डिग्री सेल्सियस या उससे ऊपर भी जा सकता है। मौसम विभाग की माने तो अगले हफ्ते तक वेस्टर्न डिस्टर्बेंस के कमजोर पड़ने से गर्मी भी बढ़ेगी।

Has Modi’s Vande Bharat push come at the cost of train safety?

At least 288 people were killed and 900 others were injured in a collision involving three trains in Odisha on Friday, making it one of India’s worst railway disasters.

The crash highlighted concerns not only about passenger safety, but also other problems plaguing the Indian Railways, such as overcrowding and delays. While these are long-standing concerns, in recent years, political will has been focused not on these problems but on the roll-out of Vande Bharat, a new day train service with steep ticket prices.

Vande Bharat push

The accident comes at a time when the Railways is paying Rs 115 crore for each Vande Bharat rake, as per the Economic Times. Such is the government focus on these trains that the prime minister himself has launched several Vande Bharat routes, with relentless promotional messaging about the benefits of the trains.

In February, when the Union budget allocated Rs 2.4 lakh crore to the Railways, the railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw underlined that the funds will be used to boost the production of Vande Bharat trains.

Vande Bharat fares are steeper than regular trains of the Indian Railways, which carried over 808 crore passengers in 2019-’20 and is a key means of transportation, especially for the poor.

In a rapidly warming world, India should focus on effectively managing forest fires

So far this year, India’s erratic weather patterns have made headlines with non-seasonal rainfall in March-April followed by intense heat waves in May. However, one of the most dangerous threats to the environment, forest fires, have gone unnoticed yet again.

The frequency of forest fire incidents in India has increased by 52% in the last two decades, from 2000 to 2020, according to a 2021 analysis by the Council on Energy, Environment and Water. This year too, there have already been fires in the non-fire-prone wet forests of Goa, and in the forests of Karnataka, Odisha, and Uttarakhand.

There are concerns that forest fires may increase with the prediction of El Niño between June and September and the World Meteorological Organization warning of warm and dry weather in the latter half of 2023. According to the World Meteorological Organization, El Niño is a climate pattern associated with the warming of the ocean surface temperatures in the central and eastern tropical Pacific Ocean.

While forest fires in India are mostly man-made, unseasonal high temperatures and deficient rainfall can lead to severe dryness in the vegetation and make the conditions conducive for the rapid spread of fires. The World Meteorological Organization in May published its Global Annual to Decadal Climate Update.

What we may be getting wrong about the paleo diet and the ‘man, the hunter’ stereotype

One of the most common stereotypes about the human past is that men did the hunting while women did the gathering. That gendered division of labor, the story goes, would have provided the meat and plant foods people needed to survive.

That characterization of our time as a species exclusively reliant on wild foods – before people started domesticating plants and animals more than 10,000 years ago – matches the pattern anthropologists observed among hunter-gatherers during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Virtually all of the large-game hunting they documented was performed by men.

It’s an open question whether these ethnographic accounts of labor are truly representative of recent hunter-gatherers’ subsistence behaviors. Regardless, they definitely fueled assumptions that a gendered division of labor arose early in our species’ evolution. Current employment statistics do little to disrupt that thinking; in a recent analysis, just 13% of hunters, fishers and trappers in the US were women.

Still, as an archaeologist, I’ve spent much of my career studying how people of the past got their food. I can’t always square my observations with the “man the hunter” stereotype.

First, I want to note that this article uses “women” to describe people biologically equipped to experience pregnancy, while recognising that not all people who identify as women are so equipped.

Being on social media has become synonymous with living in the 21st century. Year after year, we see new platforms and smarter algorithms roping us into highly addictive online worlds.

Now, a growing number of people have noticed this trend and are actively making an effort to resist it.

Anecdotally, a case can be made for quitting social media, and there are myriad reasons why someone might want to. But is there evidence that doing so is good for you in the long term?

Although there are too many social media platforms to name, most people tend to think of the “big five”: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok.

Research has found people have various reasons for quitting one or more of these apps. Many quit over concerns about negative impacts on their mental and physical health. For example, studies have shown adolescent girls in particular can experience negative body image as a result of viewing manipulated selfies on Instagram.

People also choose to quit due to disliking ads, feeling like they’re wasting time, or if they’re worried about their privacy. The question then is: does quitting social media resolve these concerns?

Mixed research outcomes

It’s difficult to determine whether there are clear and lasting benefits to quitting social media – and a look at the research.

Mehbooba Mufti gets passport after prolonged legal battle

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has been issued a passport with a ten-year validity after a prolonged legal battle, The Indian Express reported on Sunday.

The Peoples Democratic Party chief’s passport expired on May 31, 2019. On August 5 that year, the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir was split into two Union Territories after the Centre scrapped its special status under Article 370 of the Constitution.

Mufti was placed under house arrest on the same day, and was released only after 14 months.

The former chief minister applied for a new passport after her release, but the application was denied due to an adverse report from the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Criminal Investigation Department.

In February, Mufti wrote to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar seeking his intervention to clear her passport. She said in the letter that the matter had been “dragged on needlessly for the last three years”.

On May 3, the Delhi High Court directed authorities to decide on her application within three months.

In January, the Jammu and Kashmir High Court had ordered authorities to issue a passport to Mufti’s mother Gulshan Nazir. It also told the Regional Passport Officer “not to act as mouthpiece of the CID”, according to The Indian Express.

India will reject BJP’s politics of hatred, says Rahul Gandhi in US

India will reject the Bharatiya Janata Party’s politics of hatred in the upcoming elections, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said in the United States on Saturday, according to The Indian Express.

Gandhi made the statement while addressing a dinner event organised in New York by the Indian Overseas Congress-USA.

The former Wayanad MP said that the Congress showed in Karnataka that it could “decimate” the BJP.

“They had the entire media, they had 10 times the amount of money we had, they had the government, they had the agency,” Gandhi said. “They had everything and then we decimated them.”

The Congress had won the Assembly elections in the southern state on May 13 by securing 135 out of the 224 seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party was reduced to 66 seats.

Commenting on the Telangana Assembly election, which is likely to be held in January 2024, Gandhi said: “It will be hard to find the BJP in Telangana after this election. It is not just the Congress party that is going to defeat the BJP. It is the people of India, the people of Madhya Pradesh, the people of Telangana, the people of Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh who are going to defeat the BJP.”

On June 2, the Congress leader expressed confidence that Opposition leaders would join hands.

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has agreed a deal to end his time at the club, the Spanish side said on Sunday.

Benzema has lifted 25 trophies with Madrid, including five Champions Leagues, four La Liga titles and three Copas del Rey and is the current holder of the Ballon d’Or for the world’s best player.

He is Real Madrid’s second top scorer of all-time, with 353 goals for Madrid, behind only Cristiano Ronaldo on 450.

“Real Madrid and our captain Karim Benzema have agreed to put an end to his brilliant and unforgettable era as a player at our club,” said Los Blancos in a statement.

“Madrid want to show their gratitude and all their love to someone who is one of our greatest legends.”

The announcement comes after Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti had said Saturday there was “no doubt” about Benzema’s future being at Madrid, noting the forward had one more year left on his contract.

Benzema himself had said “not everything you read on the internet is reality” after reports emerged in the week about his potential departure to Saudi Arabia.

The French forward joined Madrid in 2009 from Ligue 1 side Lyon.

Bihar: सारण में सांप के डसने से महिला की मौत

छपरा। बिहार में सारण जिले के पानापुर थाना क्षेत्र में सांप के डसने से एक महिला की मौत हो गयी।

पुलिस सूत्रों ने शनिवार को यहां बताया कि शुक्रवार की देर रात धनौती गांव निवासी महेश राय की 50 वर्षीय पत्नी छाठो देवी को विषैले सांप ने डस लिया। घटना की जानकारी मिलने पर परिजन छाठो देवी को इलाज के लिए निजी चिकित्सक के पास पहुंचे।

इलाज के दौरान छाठो देवी की मौत हो गयी।सूत्रों ने बताया कि घटना की सूचना मिलने पर मौके पर पहुंची पुलिस ने पोस्टमॉर्टम कराये जाने के बाद आज शव को परिजनों को सौंप दिया है।

Covid 19 India: देश में कोरोना के 235 नये मामले

नयी दिल्ली। देश में पिछले 24 घंटे में कोरोना संक्रमण के 235 नये मामले सामने आये और दो लोगों की इस बीमारी से मौत हो गयी।

इस बीच, देश में कोरोना टीकाकरण भी जारी है और पिछले 24 घंटों में 310 लोगों को टीका लगाया गया है। अब तक देश में 2,20,67,12,538 लोगों का टीकाकरण किया जा चुका है।स्वास्थ्य मंत्रालय की ओर से शनिवार को जारी आंकड़ों के मुताबिक देश में कुल संक्रमितों की संख्या 4,49,91,380 हो गयी है।

सक्रिय मामलों की संख्या 234 घटकर 3502 रह गयी है। वहीं मृतकों की संख्या बढ़कर 531878 हो गयी है। इसी अवधि में कोरोना संक्रमण से स्वस्थ होने वालों का आंकड़ा 467 बढ़कर 44456000 पर पहुंच गया है।देश में पिछले 24 घंटों के दौरान राजस्थान और सिक्किम में सक्रिय मामलों की संख्या में चार-चार की वृद्धि हुई है। इसके अलावा, दिल्ली और ओडिशा में तीन-तीन, त्रिपुरा में एक मामला बढ़ा है।

पिछले 24 घंटे में बिहार, चंडीगढ़, छत्तीसगढ़, गोवा, हिमाचल प्रदेश, जम्मू-कश्मीर, झारखंड, कर्नाटक, केरल, मध्य प्रदेश, महाराष्ट्र, मिजोरम, नागालैंड, पुड्डुचेरी, पंजाब, तमिलनाडु, तेलंगाना, उत्तर प्रदेश और पश्चिम बंगाल में कोरोना के मामलों में कमी पायी गयी है। इसके अलावा, दिल्ली और कर्नाटक में इस बीमारी से एक-एक मरीज की मौत हुई है।

धोनी ने देश के नामी ऑर्थोपेडिक डॉक्टर से अपने घुटने का ऑपरेशन करवाया है। मीडिया रिपोर्ट की माने तो उनकी सफल सर्जरी हो चुकी है। धोनी के सफल सर्जरी के बाद ऐसी खबर आइ थी के शायद उन्हें दो दिनों तक अस्पताल में ही रहना पड़ सकता है। लेकिन अब अबी ऐसी खबर आई है कि उन्हें डिस्चार्ज कर दिया गया है।

मीडिया रिपोर्ट्स के मुताबिक धोनी को फिट होने में दो महिने का वक्त लग सकता है। और फिर से वो एक बार मैदान में उतर सकते है। आपको बता दें कि धोनी के कप्तानी में सीएसके ने 5वीं बार आइपीएल का खिताब अपने नाम किया है।

Odisha train collision toll rises to 238, over 650 injured

At least 238 passengers died and 650 injured in an accident involving two express trains and one goods train in Odisha’s Balasore district on Friday evening, reported ANI, citing the South Eastern Railway.

The accident, one of the deadliest in recent times, occurred around 7 pm when two coaches of the Yashwantpur-Howrah Express derailed near the Bahanaga railway station in Balasore, reported The Hindu. The derailed coaches came in the path of the speeding Coromandal Express on the adjoining track and collided with it. Seventeen bogies of the Coromandal Express were derailed in the collision.

Some of these bogies of the Coromandal Express then hit a goods train, a railway official said, reported The Hindu.

Rescue operations are underway and all hospitals in nearby districts have been put on alert, reported NDTV. Odisha Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena told the news channel that three National Disaster Response Force units, four Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force units, over 15 fire rescue teams, 30 doctors, 200 police personnel and 60 ambulances are at the accident site.

Officials told The Indian Express that the toll is likely to rise as several coaches are still scattered across the tracks.

Centre is planning to make sedition law more draconian, will misuse it, alleges Congress

The Congress on Friday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Union government is planning to make the colonial-era sedition law more draconian and that it was giving a message that the legislation will be used against Opposition leaders, reported The Indian Express.

The statement came after the Law Commission proposed retaining the law with key amendments. The commission said that calling the law part of a “colonial legacy” is not a valid ground for its repeal, adding that the jail term under the law should be increased from three years to seven years.

The law, under Section 124A of the Indian Penal Code, was put in abeyance by the Supreme Court last. It had also requested state governments and the Centre to not file any new cases under the rule till it is re-examined.

On Friday, Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi said at a press conference that the BJP, through its agencies, was intending to use sedition “as a tool to subverse, subjugate and silence dissent”.

“This government has obliquely declared its clear intent to continue its selective and partisan misuse of this law against political dissent,” he said.

इंटरेनट डेस्क। राजस्थान के मुख्यमंत्री अशोक गहलोत की ऐसी योजनाए है जो दूसरे राज्य भी अपना रहे है ताकी प्रदेश की जनता तो खुश रहे ही साथ ही लोगों को फायदा भी मिलता रहे। ऐसे में अब राजस्थान के बाद कर्नाटक में कांग्रेस सरकार ने फ्री बिजली देने का ऐलान किया है।

हाल ही में राजस्थान सरकार ने 100 यूनिट बिजली फ्री देने का ऐलान किया है। उसके साथ ही 101 से 200 यूनिट तक के सभी चार्ज माफ करने का ऐलान किया है। इसके बाद कर्नाटक के मुख्यमंत्री सिद्धारमैया ने कैबिनेट बैठक की और कहा कि कैबिनेट ने चालू वित्त वर्ष में सभी पांच गारंटी को पूरा करने का फैसला किया है।

गारंटी में से एक में 200 यूनिट मुफ्त बिजली शामिल है, जिसको लेकर उन्होंने कहा कि 1 जुलाई से ये प्रदेशभर में लागू किया जाएगा। हालांकि उन्होंने कहा कि बकाए का भुगतान ग्राहकों को करना होगा। सीएम सिद्धारमैया ने कहा 200 यूनिट बिजली मुफ्त होगी।

Infection risks, long hours, mental stress: Why is there no law for the safety of health workers?

The unpreparedness of healthcare establishments to protect workers from occupational hazards came into sharp focus during the Covid-19 pandemic. Nurses and sanitation workers drew attention to the lack of basic facilities like gloves, drinking water, and access to toilets.

The pandemic shed light on the challenges that healthcare workers routinely face: long working hours, high workloads, exposure to infectious diseases, hazardous chemicals, mental and physical strain. Adding to this are the psychosocial hazards such as fatigue, occupational burnout, distress or declining mental health, which affect the health and quality of work of healthcare workers.

Approximately 1,800 doctors died from Covid-19, the Indian Medical Association has estimated. As of September 22, data from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, indicates that 974 health workers had died from the virus.

But despite the significant risks that healthcare workers face there is no specific legislation to protect their occupational health and safety – apart from one narrowly applicable law in the context of HIV, the human immunodeficiency virus that causes AIDS, or acquired immunodeficiency syndrome.

इंटरेनट डेस्क। राजस्थान के मुद्दे पर दिल्ली में आलाकमान के साथ सीएम अशोक गहलोत और सचिन पायलट की बैठक हो चुकी है और इस बीच आलाकमान ने उनके साथ बाहर आकर यह भी कह दिया की राजस्थान में मिलकर चुनाव लड़ा जाएगा। लेकिन पायलट के हाव भाव से लग रहा है की सुलह का कोई फार्मूला अभी तक उन्हें मिला ही नहीं है।

ऐसे में वो अब भी इसी इंतजार में है की आलाकमान उन्हें कुछ दे दे। आपको बता दें की गहलोत सरकार को दिए गए सचिन पायलट के अल्टीमेटम की समय सीमा 31 मई को समाप्त हो गई। ऐसे में अब सचिन पायलट का इंतजार बढ़ता ही जा रहा है। पायलट ने चेतावनी दी थी कि अगर गहलोत ने वसुंधरा राजे सरकार में भ्रष्टाचार के खिलाफ कार्रवाई सहित उनकी तीन मांगों को नहीं माना तो राज्यव्यापी आंदोलन शुरू किया जाएगा।

हालांकि अब सब की निगाहें 11 जून को पायलट के पिता राजेश पायलट की पुण्यतिथि पर टिकी हैं। ऐसा इसलिए की पायलट की मांगों को सरकार मान नहीं रही है। आलाकमान कुछ तय कर नहीं पा रहा है। ऐसे में माना जा रहा है की बागी नेता द्वारा अपने अगले कदम के बारे में घोषणा की जा सकती है।
