Chinese Army ‘firmly ensconced’ in Aksai Chin, says British think tank

The Chinese military is “firmly ensconced” in the Aksai Chin region and looks set to remain there, British think tank Chatham House has said.

The statement was part of a study titled “Are India and China Bound for Another Border Clash”. The study, published on June 2, was written by John Pollock and Damien Symon.

India considers Aksai Chin as part of the Union Territory of Ladakh, while China considers the plateau a part of its Xinjiang province and Tibet. Beijing currently controls 38,000 square kilometres of land in Aksai Chin that is claimed by India.

India and China have been locked in a border standoff since their troops clashed in Galwan Valley in eastern Ladakh in June 2020. Twenty Indian soldiers were killed in the clash. China had put the number of casualties on its side at four.

Chatham House said in its study that satellite images taken in the six months from October 2022 show a region increasingly in flux.

The Indian trio of Sameer, Rajkanwar Singh Sandhu and Jatin won the team silver in the men’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol (RFP) event on the penultimate day of the ISSF World Cup Junior in Suhl, Germany on Wednesday. Sameer also won the individual silver in the event while Mahesh Anandakumar won bronze as France’s Yan Chesnel won gold.

Three Indians qualified out of six in the men’s RFP as Rajkanwar was third in qualifying with a score of 577, Sameer fourth with 577 as well and Mahesh taking the sixth qualifying spot with a score of 575. In the final, Chesnel finished with 27-hits in the 40-shot final, while Sameer was one behind with 26 and Mahesh was third with 19.

The trio of Sameer, Rajkanwar and Jatin totalled 1722 for their team silver, finishing behind Korea who logged 1728.

India are still on top of the medal tally with six gold, six silver and three bronze medals.

दुबई। अमेरिका के विदेश मंत्री एंटनी ब्लिंकन ने बुधवार को सऊदी अरब के शहजादे मोहम्मद बिन सलमान से मुलाकात की।अमेरिका और सऊदी अरब के संबंधों में कई मुद्दों को लेकर व्याप्त तनाव के बीच ब्लिंकन मंगलवार को सऊदी अरब पहुंचे। विदेश मंत्री बनने के बाद सऊदी अरब की यह उनकी दूसरी यात्रा है।

अमेरिका के विदेश मंत्रालय के अनुसार, ब्लिंकन और शहजादे मोहम्मद ने बुधवार सुबह मुलाकात की और इस दौरान दोनों नेताओं ने ;; पश्चिम एशिया और उससे परे स्थिरता, सुरक्षा तथा समृद्धि को आगे बढ़ाने की साझा प्रतिबद्धता व्यक्त की।बयान के अनुसार, ;; विदेश मंत्री (ब्लिंकन) ने इस बात पर भी जोर दिया कि मानवाधिकारों से जुड़े मुद्दों पर प्रगति से हमारे द्विपक्षीय संबंध मजबूत हुए हैं।

सऊदी अरब ने एक बयान में दोनों नेताओं के बीच मुलाकात की पुष्टि की है, हालांकि बैठक के संबंध में कोई विस्तृत जानकारी नहीं दी।शहजादे मोहम्मद के नेतृत्व में सऊदी अरब अपने हित में फैसले करने और कई मौकों पर अमेरिका के रुख को नजरअंदाज करता दिखा है।

मीडिया रिपोटर्स की माने तो डैम का पानी जंग के मैदान तक पहुंच गया। हलात यह हो गए है की बाढ़ के डर से आस-पास के गांव खाली कराए जा रहे हैं। खरसोन इलाके को भी अलर्ट पर रखा गया है। जानकारी के अनुसार यूक्रेन के 80 गांवों में बाढ़ का खतरा बढ़ गया है।

खबरों के अनुसार उत्तरी यूक्रेन में नाइपर नदी पर बना काखोवका डैम रूस के कब्जे वाले इलाके में है। वहीं रूसी सेना का आरोप है की यूक्रेन के हमले में यह तबाह हुआ है। इधर, यूक्रेन के उत्तरी कमांड के सैन्य अधिकारियों ने कहा कि डैम पर रूस ने हमला किया है। तबाही की आशंका को देखते हुए राष्ट्रपति वोल्दोमिर जेलेंस्की ने भी इमरजेंसी बैठक बुलाई है। नाइपर नदी पर बने इस डैम से ही क्रीमिया और जपोरीजिया न्यूक्लियर प्लांट में पानी पहुंचाया जाता है।

इंटरनेट डेस्क। मौसम विभाग ने एक और चक्रवाती तूफान को लेकर अलर्ट जारी किया है। विभाग के अनुसार पूर्व-मध्य अरब सागर के ऊपर बना गहरे दबाव का क्षेत्र अब चक्रवाती तूफान ;बिपारजॉय में तब्दील हो गया है। जिसका असर बहुत ही जल्द देखने को मिलेगा। मौसम विभाग ने चेतावनी जारी कर मछुआरों को उस क्षेत्र में नहीं जाने की सलाह दी है।

मौसम विभाग की माने तो पूर्वोत्तर अरब सागर और उत्तरी गुजरात तट पर 45-55 किलोमीटर प्रति घंटे की गति से हवा चल सकती है और इसकी रफ्तार 65 किलोमीटर प्रति घंटे तक पहुंच सकती है। मौसम विभाग की माने तो चक्रवाती तूफान गुरूवार सुबह तक भीषण चक्रवाती तूफान में बदलने और शुक्रवार शाम तक इसके प्रचंड रूप लेने की संभावना है।

इस दौरान केरल-कर्नाटक तटों और लक्षद्वीप-मालदीव इलाकों में 6 जून और कोंकण-गोवा-महाराष्ट्र तट पर 8 से 10 जून तक समुद्र में बहुत ऊंची लहरें उठने की संभावना है।वहीं इस चक्रवाती तूफान का असर कई राज्यों में भी देखने को मिल सकता है। इसके कारण हवाओं को रूख तेज होगा और बारिश भी हो सकती है।

The residents of Goshal village in Himachal Pradesh tell a story about the two snow-capped peaks onto which the village looks out. The peak on the left, they say, was the home of the goddess Parvati, while the one on the right was the home of the god Shiva. After Parvati married Shiva, she shifted from her mountain to her husband’s. But before she did, she extracted a promise from him – that he would bless her home with nine feet of snow every year.

The legend was believed to explain Goshal’s history of heavy snowfall. “About 20 years ago, there used to be such heavy snowfall, that it would pile up till the roofs,” said Nain Chand, a resident of Goshal. “We used to walk from roof to roof!”

In recent years, however, the tale has not resonated as before, owing to dramatic declines in snowfall in the region. “Today, we don’t even receive half of nine feet,” Chand said.

The Chinese economy’s sheer size and rapid growth are impressive.

China maintained one of the highest economic growth rates in the world for more than a quarter of a century, helping lift over 800 million people out of poverty in just a few decades. The country is the largest exporter in the world and the most important trading partner of Japan, Germany, Brazil and many other countries. It has the second-largest economy after the US, based on the market exchange rate, and the largest based on purchasing power.

Yet, the yuan still lags as a major global currency. The war in Ukraine, which started in February 2022, may change that.

As a professor of finance and expert on international finance, I understand how this geopolitical conflict may put China’s currency on the next phase of its path to becoming a global currency – and prompt the onset of the decline of the US dollar from its current dominance.

Chinese yuan’s slow progress

China has long wanted to make the yuan a global force and has mounted significant efforts to do so in recent years.

For example, the Chinese government launched the Cross-Border Interbank Payments System, or CIPS, in 2015 to facilitate cross-border payments in yuan. Three years later, in 2018, it launched the world’s first yuan-denominated crude oil futures contracts to allow exporters to sell oil in yuan….

India picked up two more gold medals at the on-going International Shooting Sport Federation World Cup Junior in Suhl, Germany, cementing their spot on the top of the medal tally.

India’s total now stands at five gold, four silver and two bronze medals, with two more competition days left.

Amanpreet Singh in the men’s 25m Pistol and the women’s 25m Pistol team comprising Megana Sadula, Payal Khatri and Simranpreet Kaur Brar, were the gold winners for India on the day.

Amanpreet shot gold with a score of 586 in the men’s 25m Pistol. Megana, Payal and Simranpreet combined for a score of 1719 for the women’s team gold.

In the individual women’s event, three Indians, Megana, Payal and Divanshi reached the final but Megana finished fourth with 22 hits, Payal fifth with 18-hits and Divanhsi was seventh with 11-hits.

In the men’s individual event, apart from Amanpreet, Swaraj Bhondave was eighth with 574, Meshaak Ponnudurai ninth with 574, Abhimanyu Yadav 13th with 571 and Ankait Tomar 14th with 569.

In the junior men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions Avinash Yadav was 28th with 573, Parikshit Singh Brar 31st with 572, Ramanya Tomar 40th with 567 and Harsh Singh finished 45th with a score of 566.

Last month, The New York Times said that the “nuclear” question had been discussed with “words chosen carefully” during a long-awaited talk between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky on April 27. Some other news outlets reproduced Xi’s exact words: “There is no winner in a nuclear war. All parties concerned should remain calm and restrained in dealing with the nuclear issue and truly look at the future and destiny of themselves and humanity as a whole and work together to manage the crisis.”

On a crisp September day in 2005 at the Wagah-Attari border, the flags of Pakistan and India were flying high, while the drums rolled on both sides to announce one of the largest prisoner exchanges between the two countries. On the ground standing in a neat line were prisoners from both countries, some with no shoes on their feet, waiting anxiously to reunite with their families.

The drummers on either side competed with one another to be louder, but the festive mood was not reflected in the eyes of the prisoners. They glared at the big gates dividing the two rival nations with disillusionment; most of them had spent a longer time in prison than their sentences required. जिसके बाद इस समारोह में पाकिस्तान के पीएम शहबाज शरीफ भी पहुंच गए। लेकिन देखने बाली बात यह रही है की पाकिस्तान के पीएम शहबाज शरीफ ने भारत के पीएम नरेंद्र मोदी की नकल करने की कोशिश की और वो उसमें सफल नहीं हो पाए। पाकिस्तानी पीएम ने रेसेप तैयप एर्दोगन को गले लगाने की कोशिश की, लेकिन एर्दोगन ने शरीफ के तरीके को नजरअंदाज कर दिया और सिर्फ कंधे को सटाकर छोड़ दिया।

United States Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley on Monday said that there was a need to “confront India and China” in order to save the environment.

Dhanush Srikanth won the men’s 10m Air Rifle on competition day three of the ISSF World Cup Junior in Suhl, Germany on Monday. Dhanush posted 249.4 in the 24-shot final ahead of silver medal-winning Swede Pontus Kallin by 1.3 points. Frenchman Romain Aufrere won bronze.

India also picked up a bronze in the Skeet Mixed Team competition, when Harmehar Lally and Sanjana Sood defeated Swedish opponents David Jonsson and Felicia Ros once again, whom they had to take out in a shoot-off for bronze.

India now lead the medal tally with three gold, one silver and two bronze medals, ahead of the USA who have two golds and one silver thus far.

Late in the day, the women’s 10m Air Rifle final is also scheduled.

Three Indians made the final of the junior men’s 10m Air Rifle. Besides Dhanush, who qualified sixth with a score of 628.4, Pratham Bhadana finished above him in fifth with 628.7. Abhinav Shaw, who won the Air Rifle Mixed Team gold on Sunday, also grabbed the eighth and final spot with a score of 626.7.

बीजिंग, 05 जून (वार्ता) दक्षिण पश्चिम चीन के सिचुआन प्रांत में भूस्खलन से मरने वालों की संख्या बढ़कर 19 हो गयी है।लेशान शहर प्रशासन ने सोमवार को यह जानकारी दी।

अधिकारियों ने कहा कि भूस्खलन लेशान शहर के पास जिन्कौहे में एक वानिकी उद्यम में रविवार को लगभग 06:00 बजे हुआ। स्थानीय समय (22:00 जीएमटी)। उन्होंने कहा कि घटना के बाद, बचावकर्ता और विशेष उपकरण तुरंत घटनास्थल पर पहुंचे।

उन्होंने बताया कि 04 जून को रात आठ बजे (1200 जीएमटी) तक खोज एवं बचाव अभियान पूरा हो गया। भूस्खलन में 19 लोगों की मौत हो गयी तथा पांच लोग मामूली रुप से घायल हो गए।घटना के कारणों की जांच की जा रही है।

खबरों की माने तो पाकिस्तान पर डिफॉल्ट होने का खतरा बढ़ता जा रहा है। पाकिस्तान के वित्त मंत्री इशाक डार ने फिर से आश्वासन दिया है कि पाकिस्तान डिफॉल्ट नहीं होगा। वहीं पाकिस्तान में चल रही राजनीतिक और आर्थिक अस्थिरता से अब सऊदी अरब और यूएई की भी मुश्किले बढ़ती दिख रही है। इन दोनों ही देशों ने पाकिस्तान को अरबों डॉलर का लोन दिया है।

मीडिया रिपोर्ट के अनुसार इन दोनों ही देशों ने अभी मिलकर 3 अरब डॉलर देने का पाकिस्तान और आईएमएफ से वादा किया है। लेकिन पाकिस्तान में राजनीतिक अफरातफरी के बीच आर्थिक संकट अपने चरम पर पहुंचता दिख रहा है।

उन्होंने आगे बोलते हुए कहा की हम महात्मा गांधी की विचारधार को लेकर आगे बढ़ रहे हैं। गांधी जी ने अंग्रेजों से लड़ाई की, जो उस समय अमेरिका से भी बड़ी ताकत थे। आप लोग गांधी, आंबेडकर, पटेल, नेहरू के कदमों पर चल रहे हैं। उन्होंने कहा की पीएम मोदी, बीजेपी और आरएसएस के साथ एक ही मुश्किल है और वो ये की वो हमेशा भूतकाल की बातें करते हैं।

हमेशा किसी दूसरे पर आरोप लगाने की सोचते हैं। बीजेपी और आरएसएस के पास भविष्य देखने की क्षमता नहीं है। उनसे कुछ भी पूछो वो पीछे की ओर देखते हैं। उन्होंने कहा की भाजपा से आप ओडिशा रेल हादसे पर सवाल पूछो तो कहेंगे कांग्रेस ने 50 साल पहले ऐसा काम किया था, इसलिए यह हादसा हुआ।

So far this year, India’s erratic weather patterns have made headlines with non-seasonal rainfall in March-April followed by intense heat waves in May. However, one of the most dangerous threats to the environment, forest fires, have gone unnoticed yet again.

The frequency of forest fire incidents in India has increased by 52% in the last two decades, from 2000 to 2020, according to a 2021 analysis by the Council on Energy, Environment and Water. This year too, there have already been fires in the non-fire-prone wet forests of Goa, and in the forests of Karnataka, Odisha, and Uttarakhand.

There are concerns that forest fires may increase with the prediction of El Niño between June and September and the World Meteorological Organization warning of warm and dry weather in the latter half of 2023. According to the World Meteorological Organization, El Niño is a climate pattern associated with the warming of the ocean surface temperatures in the central and eastern tropical Pacific Ocean.

While forest fires in India are mostly man-made, unseasonal high temperatures and deficient rainfall can lead to severe dryness in the vegetation and make the conditions conducive for the rapid spread of fires. The World Meteorological Organization in May published its Global Annual to Decadal Climate Update.

Being on social media has become synonymous with living in the 21st century. Year after year, we see new platforms and smarter algorithms roping us into highly addictive online worlds.

Now, a growing number of people have noticed this trend and are actively making an effort to resist it.

Anecdotally, a case can be made for quitting social media, and there are myriad reasons why someone might want to. But is there evidence that doing so is good for you in the long term?

Although there are too many social media platforms to name, most people tend to think of the “big five”: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok.

Research has found people have various reasons for quitting one or more of these apps. Many quit over concerns about negative impacts on their mental and physical health. For example, studies have shown adolescent girls in particular can experience negative body image as a result of viewing manipulated selfies on Instagram.

People also choose to quit due to disliking ads, feeling like they’re wasting time, or if they’re worried about their privacy. The question then is: does quitting social media resolve these concerns?

India will reject the Bharatiya Janata Party’s politics of hatred in the upcoming elections, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said in the United States on Saturday, according to The Indian Express.

Gandhi made the statement while addressing a dinner event organised in New York by the Indian Overseas Congress-USA.

The former Wayanad MP said that the Congress showed in Karnataka that it could “decimate” the BJP.

“They had the entire media, they had 10 times the amount of money we had, they had the government, they had the agency,” Gandhi said. “They had everything and then we decimated them.”

The Congress had won the Assembly elections in the southern state on May 13 by securing 135 out of the 224 seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party was reduced to 66 seats.

Commenting on the Telangana Assembly election, which is likely to be held in January 2024, Gandhi said: “It will be hard to find the BJP in Telangana after this election. It is not just the Congress party that is going to defeat the BJP. It is the people of India, the people of Madhya Pradesh, the people of Telangana, the people of Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh who are going to defeat the BJP.”

On June 2, the Congress leader expressed confidence that Opposition leaders would join hands.

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has agreed a deal to end his time at the club, the Spanish side said on Sunday.

Benzema has lifted 25 trophies with Madrid, including five Champions Leagues, four La Liga titles and three Copas del Rey and is the current holder of the Ballon d’Or for the world’s best player.

He is Real Madrid’s second top scorer of all-time, with 353 goals for Madrid, behind only Cristiano Ronaldo on 450.

“Real Madrid and our captain Karim Benzema have agreed to put an end to his brilliant and unforgettable era as a player at our club,” said Los Blancos in a statement.

“Madrid want to show their gratitude and all their love to someone who is one of our greatest legends.”

The announcement comes after Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti had said Saturday there was “no doubt” about Benzema’s future being at Madrid, noting the forward had one more year left on his contract.

Benzema himself had said “not everything you read on the internet is reality” after reports emerged in the week about his potential departure to Saudi Arabia.

The French forward joined Madrid in 2009 from Ligue 1 side Lyon.

Benzema established himself as a key player alongside Ronaldo and Gareth Bale in the vaunted “BBC” attacking trident, before developing.
