The Bihar Central Selection Board of Constables (CSBC) has commenced the online registration process for recruitment of Police Constables (Advt No. 01/2023). Eligible and interested candidates can now apply to the vacancies on the official website csbc.bih.nic.in till July 20, 2023.

The recruitment drive aims to fill a total of 21,391 Police Constable posts.

Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit: 18 years to 25 years as on August 1, 2022. Upper age limit relaxed for reserved category candidates.

Educational Qualification: The applicants should have passed intermediate (Class 12) or Maulvi Certificate issued by the Madrasa Board of Bihar State Government. More details in the notification.

During Nepali Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s four-day visit to India in June, it was hard to tell that he was the same staunch communist leader of whom New Delhi has historically been wary.

On his first official foreign visit during this prime ministerial term, “Prachanda”, as Dahal is popularly known, avoided bringing up matters sensitive to India, clearly signifying his changed foreign policy calculus vis-à-vis Delhi.

Additionally, by taking certain steps to “mollify” Delhi, Prachanda wanted to convey his desire to improve ties, say observers of the bilateral relationship. Prachanda wants to reassure Delhi because he now realises the need to better navigate Nepal’s ties with India, they say.

In the general election in November, the coalition that ruled Nepal at the time led by Sher Bahadur Deuba’s Nepali Congress party and supported by Prachanda’s Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) failed to win a majority. During negotiations to form a government, the alliance collapsed when Deuba rejected Prachanda’s demand for the prime minister’s position.

Prachanda then joined hands with rival KP Sharma Oli’s Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) to form the government in December. Oli let Prachanda become the prime minister.

Former Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh on Saturday asked why Prime Minister Narendra Modi had not yet spoken out on the violence in the state.

Manipur has been witnessing ethnic clashes between the Meitei and Kuki communities since May 3. The violence has left more than 100 persons dead, over 300 injured and thousands displaced.

Singh, a Congress leader, is part of a ten-party delegation that has been waiting in Delhi for an appointment with Modi since June 12. The delegation also includes representatives from the Janata Dal (United), Communist Party of India, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Revolutionary Socialist Party, All India Forward Bloc, Trinamool Congress, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), Aam Aadmi Party and Nationalist Congress Party, The Indian Express reported.

Addressing a press conference on Saturday, Singh said that Manipur had been burning since May and that about 20,000 persons were in relief camps. “However, the Prime Minister has not yet expressed anything regarding Manipur,” he said. “Is Manipur a part of India or not? If it is, why hasn’t the Prime Minister of India spoken about it?”

Sikandar Kher has come a long way since his debut in 2008 in Woodstock Villa. It’s been a bumpy ride for the second-generation actor, who hit his stride only in 2020 with Ram Madhvani’s Aarya. In the web series, Kher plays Daulat, a loyal lieutenant to the titular heroine. Kher following up Aarya with acclaimed turns in Vasan Bala’s film Monica, O My Darling and Pratim D Gupta’s comedy series Tooth Pari.

The tide has turned only recently for the 40-year-old son of actors Kirron Kher and Anupam Kher. Sikandar Kher is looking forward to a host of interesting projects, including Aarya’s third season, the Indian chapter of Citadel, Dev Patel’s movie Monkey Man, the surrogacy-themed film Dukaan and another web series.

The journey has been challenging. Somewhere along the way, Sikandar Kher accepted that it was better to be a performer than an actor whose credentials and gratification depended on playing the leading man. In 1962, China attacked India in a war that would define South Asian geopolitics for decades to come. Amidst an uproar in Parliament, during which many called for Jawaharlal Nehru’s resignation, Atal Behari Vajpayee, one of the leading lights of the right-wing Jan Sangh, expressed his full support to the beleaguered Prime Minister. From his point of view, calling for Nehru’s resignation in the middle of a full-blown war was impractical. His stand exasperated Acharya Kripalani into snapping that Vajpayee was a “Nehruvian in Jan Sanghi garb.”

Years later, another shaft came from Subhadra Joshi, the fiery Congresswoman who had managed to defeat Vajpayee in the 1962 Haryana elections. In an essay in Secular Democracy in 1970, Joshi stormed, “The thought never crossed any democratic mind that Vajpayee was only acting the liberal to provide cover to the RSS, so that this fascist machine could gain the time it needed to build adequate strength.”

Two elderly Indians of my acquaintance died last month, one in Mumbai, the other in Bengaluru. Both were in their late nineties. The first grew up in the princely state of Udaipur, the second in the towns of the Madras Presidency. Both came to adulthood in the last years of the raj. Both showed, from early in their youth, a keen interest in science and technology. Both were educated as engineers, first in British India and then in the United Kingdom. Both could have stayed on in the West and made a comfortable living there, yet both came back shortly after 1947 to work in their newly-independent country. On returning home, neither joined one of the multinational companies then operating in India, or even an Indian-owned private engineering firm such as the Tatas or Kirloskars. Both chose to work in the less lucrative (if, in their eyes, more honourable) public sector instead.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has released admit cards for the UGC NET June 2023 Phase 2 examination. Eligible candidates can download their admit cards from the official website ugcnet.nta.nic.in.

The UGC NET June 2023 Phase II will be conducted at different centres across the country on June 19, 20, 21, and 22. The candidates have already been intimated about their city and their date of exam.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the result of the Joint Integrated Programme in Management Admission Test (JIPMAT 2023). Eligible candidates can download their results from the official website jipmat.nta.ac.in.

As per the notification, a total of 8712 candidates registered for the exam, of which 7398 appear for the test.

“The eligibility criteria, self-declaration, various documents, etc. of the eligible candidates shall be verified as per norms specified by IIM Bodh Gaya & IIM Jammu where admission is sought, at subsequent stages of the admission process,” reads the notification.

The Indian Institute of Technology- Guwahati will soon release the final answer key and results of JEE Advanced 2023. Eligible candidates will be able to download their results from the official website jeeadv.ac.in.

The provisional answer key was released on June 11 and the objections were invited till June 12 upto 5.00 PM. The JEE Advanced 2023 was conducted on June 4. Candidate response sheets were released on June 9.

The JEE Advanced exam is conducted for admissions to various programmes at the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). A candidate can attempt JEE (Advanced) maximum of two times in two consecutive years.
